Quickie

Three tests tomorrow. Well, later today. And it's two tests really, when you take into account the fact that one of them is stupid physics (physics for non science majors of course).

I honestly feel I grow a little stupider everytime I go to that class. (Yes, that was intentional, I'm not that far gone yet)

And then there's statistics and MIS. We get a cheat sheet for statistics so that's all good.

Last night's/earlier today's little 'social gathering' at the other apartment was pretty fun. Dan probably got the most drunk, and I must admit I haven't really seen him like that before. I got kicked in the shin by Melissa too. Lots of pictures - I'll be sure to post them tomorrow. Maybe.

And yeah, I realize I just made a chatlogblogpost, but I have to quote this nonetheless.

[12:56:38 AM] Melissa: slut!
[12:56:53 AM] Melissa: i need those notes by monday please
[12:56:57 AM] Melissa: and i meant slut in the nicest way
[12:57:09 AM] Melissa: :)
[12:58:37 AM] * Melissa is now Away
[01:03:13 AM] Sam: i must admit, i've never been called a slut by a girl before :P
Not as far as I can remember anyhow....

Finally, I know it's a little late, but happy birthday Dayaan you old sod! Don't break your PSP while you're drunk. I look forward to kicking your arse at Ridge Racer and Wipeout Pure when I come down to Dubai in the winter.

Forward

For someone who has always had a plan for just about about everything in his career, I've gotta admit I'm at a bit of a loss here.

I have no clue what I'm going to major in, and I don't really have much time to decide.

When I transferred into the business school, I was pretty sure I was going to end up doing Finance. I considered Management for a while, but then I figured I'm probably better off doing that at the MBA level. Then I flirted with PPA for a bit. Now that I know that accounting really isn't my cup of tea, I'm looking at Marketing. The only majors I haven't touched are MIS, ERB and International Business.

My business classes aren't exactly the greatest either.

MIS 301 is a load of crap about technology in the context of business, but it's way too theoretical with abstract concepts that have little or no meaning when you're actually working with a business. And give me a break... the stuff with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access is just plain dumb.

STA 309 is not much more than statistics with Excel, which could be useful I guess. So far, nothing I haven't seen in high school already.

BA 101T is basically a one credit class/seminar where the sole purpose seems to be to keep reminding you how great the business school at UT is (did they read my mind about transferring?). And there's stuff about resume writing, career stuff and what not.

ACC 311 is the one class I've actually learned something in that could be useful, and it's the hardest I've got this semester. The first quiz wasn't great (I blame the alcoholic I sat with).

Whatever though, it's all a lot better than CS 307, and I'm guessing all the other CS classes I would have had to take. I'm just wondering what I'd be doing right now if not business. Coding maybe? Or reading whitepapers on Motorola processors? The funny thing is that when it comes to hands-on knowledge about computers, I probably know more than any of the CS or EE majors I personally know. Thanks to Sanju though, I'm not the resident geek anymore.

Damn You Vile Woman!

I have a facebook alter-ego. His name is none other than Stewie Griffin, and he's going to take over the world someday. And kill Lois too.

Yeah I have way too much time on my hands. Got an accounting quiz tomorrow, definitely not the most interesting class I'm taking this semester. That, and I get to dress up for a BA 101 presentation that's about the FCC. I still have no idea what I'll be doing, but hey, any excuse to dress up!

I made that last post when I was extremely sleepy and thinking about random stuff from the recent and not-too-recent past, so read it as such. That's about it for now I guess. More tomorrow.

People suck

What the title says.

It's one of those things you just sort of assume as true, and don't realize the real impact until you see and/or experience it for real, like I have. It holds for really any and all levels - friends, acquaintances, associates, authority, government....

Yeah I'm being incredibly vague, and on purpose too.

I'm just glad that I do in fact have the privelege of knowing people I can implicitly trust. Those people do not suck.

Edit - While we're doing birthdays, happy birthday Sanju! You just know you'll be coding and getting owned by me at GT3 when you're 85.

Happy Birthday!

We're having a party.

There's chocolate cake. Lots of it.

Fun games for everyone.

We also have clowns for the sole pupose of poking them with extremely sharp pins.

And pizza. Lots of pizza.

For today is the day this blog turns 1!

(Puts on a party hat and gets back to eating cake)

Edit: The blog would really appreciate it if you left a comment. It makes her feel all warm inside and everything. (Yeah it's a she)

Let.

I'm late, I know, but American Idiot by Green Day isn't bad at all.

So a funny thing happened the other day. A certain someone who I had a falling out with in December of last year actually replied to my MSN messages. He was a pretty damn good friend of mine and honestly, I haven't a clue what happened. Well, actually I do and I wasn't happy about it. I'm still not. I could play the blame game, but I'm better than that. A few people know who and what and I'm talking about. Just thought I'd mention it, for no reason in particular.

Anyhow I finally played some squash yesterday. It's a good thing most people don't know there are squash courts at the Rec Center. Those are a good backup the ones at Gregory Gym which are almost always full. I'll be the first to admit I'm really nowhere near the best at the game but I enjoy it a lot, and I have my moments. I was looking forward to owning a certain someone but he's always had an injury or something that 'prevents' him from playing - since the middle of last fall. Trash talk is always convenient when you don't have to put up. *cough* Someone's missing his cajones.

Flying to Houston for the weekend. Hopefully the delays at Austin-Bergstrom won't be anywhere near as bad as last time.

Weekend Picture Blogging

Pictures from the party downstairs earlier last night. Click on the images to see a (somewhat) larger image. Blame my Razr for the quality, that's the best it can do.

Dan on the Gamecube...

...for before every party, there must be a few rounds of Super Smash Bros?

Any guesses as to what Nikhil's trying to say here?

Girls! And alcohol!

Sanju! And alcohol! (This, people, is a 'wtf' moment)

Oh look, Melissa's flipping me off already.

Still at it...

Melissa wasn't the only person flipping me off.

Meet Chris. It took him an hour to finish that beer.

It's Sam... with a cap on... and the oddest look....

It must be 'Flip Sam Off Day'.

Sam's dancing! And has no idea camera-phones exist!

Just when you think there's hope...

...there we go again. She really hates sober people. Me especially.

Sam's dancing! And realizes that camera-phones do exist, after which she promptly strangles me.

'Dan is a man-whore'... Puneet really should know. (Sorry, I just had to)

STILL at it?

Damn grinning bastard. Stop it.

We still have no clue what Nikhil's trying to say.

Or Josh for that matter.

Say hi to Emily... and the poster too.

Someone had no alcohol.

Yours truly, at the end of it all.

Insanefuckingcraziness

And that would be an understatement.

Long post warning. Read it.

Let me begin by introducing two key players. Or rather, playees. First up is The Alcoholic. This guy was my roommate during freshman year, and he and alcohol (or to be specific, Jack Daniels) go together like water and more water in the same glass. Second is The Moronic Newbie. Newbie currently lives in the same apartment as I do, in the other room. He doesn't have much experience with alcohol. At all.

So it's a Friday night. And just about everybody plans on getting drunk, some more than others. We kill time at home and eventually decide to go to Ryan's party at his apartment. So far so good. Dan and Elliot drive the lot of us to the place - an apartment complex on west campus. Dan picked up Sam (-antha) and Neha with The Alcoholic, and I joined them too. Elliot drove the rest of us.

Anyhow, we land at Ryan's place. The first thing that hits me - flashing strobe lights. It's like everything I see is at a rate of 10 frames per second. That and I really couldn't recognize anyone there. Small place too so it got a little crowded. But it was all good. We met Melissa, her roommate (I'm really bad with names, sorry), Ryan's friend Rob, and some other people there. The lights were so bad that I was staring at Melissa for about 7 seconds tying to figure out who she was. But it was cool in a way.

And then the drinks started flowing.

It wasn't bad at first. Dan, Elliot and I didn't really drink. I pretty much had a coke with a little bit of whatever the hell stuff there was, and spent most of the time at the start hanging with everyone there, mostly Melissa, Nikhil and Neha. It was actually shaping up to be pretty good at first... a nice, not too crazy thing. The Alcoholic pretty much got into the swing of things. And somewhere down the line, The Moronic Newbie decided to go at it too. Pretty soon, both The Alcoholic and The Newbie were fighting over a 24 oz water bottle... filled three quarters up with vodka. The Newbie won out, and grabbed the bottle.

That's when his Moronic side took over.

He downed about a half of the vodka in that bottle - at a stretch. The Alcoholic, not to be outdone, finished the job. Pretty soon the effects started showing. The Newbie was basically walking around the place screaming his ass off, while The Alcoholic downed drink after drink. At one point, The Newbie was trying to explain the concept of opportunity cost from microeconomics to Neha while I watched (and tried to suppress laughter - not too successfully). All I understood was something about MP3 players and washing machines, and I had made an A in the class in the summer.

At one point I went downstairs to open the gates for Nikhil and Neha (goddamn smokers, and turns out I didn't have to go anyway), but while walking back upstairs I saw The Alcoholic slumping on the railing, almost falling over. He claims to have been searching for Smirnoff. Needless to say he got none. But that at point he had had one too many, and more. Our two protagonists could barely walk and were passing out every few seconds, so we figured it was time to head back.

And that's when things got chaotic.

Seeing as how the dynamic duo were delerious and unable to walk, we had to help them down, which wasn't easy. The Alcoholic may be pretty light but The Moronic Newbie is one heavy motherfucker. We managed to get them to the pavement and Elliot left to get his car.

In the meantime, The Alcoholic passed out and rolled off of the curb and right onto the street. We managed to get him back onto the grass... and then he got up and started running, screaming something about one more drink. Yeah, sure. Let's just say his drunken sprinting skills were no match for Nikhil's and my tackling prowess. (Yeah, yeah...)

In the meantime, the others were trying to get The Newbie into Dan's car. That didn't go too well but it worked out, so Dan, Neha, Sam, The Newbie and myself headed back home in his car. Dan was paranoid about The Newbie puking spontaneously in his car, and let's just say he got lucky. Elliot wasn't quite as much, but more on that later. We got back to Duval, and got The Newbie out of the car... and he ended up sprawled across the parking lot. That's when his system decided it had had enough, and it all came out. In stages. And it wasn't pretty.

The same thing happened with The Alcoholic, except that was inside Elliot's car.

But yeah, after leaving the two of them sprawled across the front parking lot for about 20 minutes and letting The Newbie puke the hell out of himself, we managed to get them up to Dan's apartment. Don't ask how. Let's just say Elliot is a beast. Dumped the two of them in a bathtub each and gave them a cold shower. They did not enjoy it. We didn't give a fuck. More puking followed. Short and brief bursts that lasted about an hour. In the end we stripped the both of them of everything but the bare minimum (I'm trying NOT to be graphic here), and put the both of them on The Alcoholic's bed. Good thing he got a full size.

So yeah, that's the short of it. I tried to include as much as possible, but let's just say words don't do this justice. I have pictures on my cellphone, Neha has some on hers, and Dan has some on his digital camera. We are bad people. I could be really evil and post them on here.... but I don't know.

You know though, I'd really like to see the look on their faces when they wake up next morning with a hell of a hangover, almost completely naked, in the same bed and not remembering what the hell happened last night.

As for me... well, I never drink much anyhow, if at all. This is certainly helping reinforce that.

Saagar and Puneet, nothing personal, but you were both morons. ;)

Katrina

It's fucked up. No bones about it.

I don't know... usually it's hard to get me to feel anything about disasters - natural or otherwise - and I'll be honest about it, I didn't quite have the same reaction to 9/11 as most people here did. This is different though. Just trying to imagine what it's like for people there, or what I would have done....

Spare some loose change for the victims and donate to the Red Cross. If you can't do that, at least spare them a thought.

PS: I really don't care if Republicans are going to go on and bitch about the looting. If they can go to New Orleans and survive in the middle of the shitstorm that is, and without doing any of the things they claim to abhor so much, then I'll officially become a card carrying conservative. Heartless fucking morons.
