So I decided to take a sabbatical

Well not really, but I've been a lazy prick. I did get something constructive done though, with all those l33t java ski11z I picked up in CS 307! And here's the result...

President vowing to be resolute in the war against terror and his economic and education policies and promised to protect Social Security. We face enemies who hate our country and we will do our duty and would do anything to harm us, Bush said. I will protect the American people. As long as I am the president vowing to harm us, Bush and Sen. John Kerry stuck to the final weekend before the election, President, we will not be held captive by fear. Bush said. I will protect Social Security. We face enemies who hate our country and we will not be held captive by fear. As long as I am the president vowing to harm us, Bush also spoke in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he was joined by family members of victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001. He lauded his Democratic challenger calling for a fresh start.

Draw your own conclusions.

Or better than kings. Gods.

So I've been playing Deus Ex. For the 10th or 11th time, I've lost count now. Which is ironic because most single player games don't interest me all that much. It usually takes all of two levels to completely bore me to death (think Doom 3, and Far Cry). In the past few years, I think the only games I've actually beaten are Deus Ex, DX Invisible War, the Star Trek Elite Force games (only because I'm a Star Trek fan) and the Splinter Cell games.

And why is it that Microsoft simply insist on making Windows the most annoying OS ever? Just when I was warming to the idea that WinXP with SP2 might actually not be too shabby. Every 5 minutes there's this damn popup that seems to go "Right then it's time to install those updates and restart your computer! You can click here to restart later but we'll come back in 5 minutes and ask you this again anyway simply because we're hell bent on annoying you. And it's fun too!"

Post hoc, ergo propter hoc

You know, I go to the Blogger page and hit the New Post button almost everyday, all geared up to write something. And then I see this, and all of a sudden I don't want to write anymore. Bit odd I know, but I'm sure something similar's happened to most people.

That aside, tonight I write.

I just got done watching a couple of episodes of The West Wing. Usually I don't get all worked up about a show, or an episode. But so far, after every episode (and I'm ten episodes into the first season), I end up thinking 'wow, now that was awesome'. The characters on this show are more real and believable than most other shows I've watched (and I've watched a fair amount).

There's just something about this show that's unique from everything else I've seen. In fact, it may seem odd, but I can't help but draw comparisons between West Wing and Star Trek DS9. Not directly of course (Twenty fourth century space exploration and warfare versus contemporary American politics anyone?), but I can't help but feel the same sense of attachment to characters on this show as I did with DS9, and the storyline draws me in just as much too.

It's kind of like what Stargate SG-1 almost was, or Buffy wasn't (I already know there are people who want to have me shot now). Speaking of Buffy, I now feel like calling it the most overrated show ever. I'll have to save the details on that one for another day though, it's almost 5 am and I have a class at 10. So, yeah, I think I'll get some sleep.

PS. This post's topic translated, 'After it, therefore because of it.' Think about it, but don't think too much.

How do YOU want to lockup today?

I officially hate BlueJ. It is THE most unstable Java IDE created. Ever.

I'll stop short of a page long rant, and just say that JCreator is a hell of a lot better.

Come on now, they won't tell. Go on now, save yourself.

You'd be surprised how much of this song you can relate to.
