Rehnquist the fallible

I finally got around to transferring and resizing the pictures from our little meetup at Mocha. And I thought I was going to put this off for at least a couple of months... *cough*. Yeah. Anyway, without further ado....

First up, none other than the two fingered salute.

Drinks on Rishi?

This one speaks for itself.

Anuya and myself.

Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. ;)

Same picture, one minute earlier. And no, I am not hitting on Akshata.

There are a few more pictures, and much higher res versions of these, and I'll be emailing them to you lot later - soon as I get my hands on a faster connection. And yes I realize the title has nothing to do with the content of this post.

Open letter to 'the Om3n'

(Slightly long post, bear with me)

I've always considered you a friend. Even after you switched high schools after grade 10 and we basically lost contact - shortly after your endless bitching about how Modern High sucked. I never held anything against you, because I knew you better than that.

It's no secret that I despised life at Modern High. I never made a huge deal out of it, but I did. And for a time, I despised the people who made my life the way it was. I'm not taking any names but you of all people should know what I'm talking about. I now don't personally hold anything against those people.

And you know, while I was there, I made some pretty damn good friends. Friends like Mrinal, Anish, and yeah, Atul. So you should know I'd be pretty ticked off when you go 'i draw the line here and now...sam and the rest of the people on this board (who know atul)... heres one thing im making clear... if i dont see atul behave maturely... either he leaves or I leave.'

You know what, you're free to choose who you like and dislike - but you have no right to choose who my friends are. I'm not the kind of person to immediately start hating someone just because he or she chooses to hang out with people I don't like.

'my past isnt something i regret but tis something i left behind long ago and its best off behind me.' That's what you said in reply to his opening post, where all he did was call you by a name you used years ago. If your 'past' is something you've left behind, then you'll do the same with your hatred for him. Hell, even KK is on relatively good terms with the guy now.

'if you try to drag it in front of my face ever again, youll be using shoelaces for floss.' And why would you do that, considering your past is something you claim to not regret? You expect him to behave maturely; how about you do the same? Being 'specifically allergic' to his alleged 'bullshit' is no excuse, and you know that just as well as I do.

On another note, what is it about your past that you're so keen on leaving behind? The time you came upto my desk - the year we were both new students at the school - and put an invitation card on my desk and said "and you had better come to my birthday party". I barely knew you then. What about the time we threw water balloons (I think) on passing cars from your balcony? Or how about all the NFS3 games we played online? Or the times the lot of us used to just hang out? Is that the past you want to forget?

Because if it is, I don't know you anymore.

You changed a lot just before and when you started going to EIS, and I never really understood you after that. Part of that is because you never really explained yourself to me. I guess you thought the people who knew you would sort of 'just understand'. But we didn't. And we still don't. But we still kept in touch, largely because of the past. So pardon me if I decide to take you to task when you say it's something you want to leave behind, even when you're not talking to me.

He said something about you in jest, and you took it so personally that you basically threatened the lot of us to choose between you two. Because I get the feeling you're in no mood to make amends. Maybe you are, and I sure hope so. I don't like losing friends.

Of cakes and karts

I don't know what they put in chocolate cakes but whatever it is, I'm addicted. So addicted that I ended up going with my cousins last night and getting a full size cake with the words 'I LIKE CHEESE' in icing on it. Don't ask. Should you wish to fund my chocolate cake addiction (it's a good cause!) feel free to PayPal some money to omnipotent at mail dot utexas dot edu.

Cakes aside, 24 is the next best thing when you have lots of time to kill at a stretch. More on that later though. I've got a few things to say about the last season.

Earlier in the evening I spent some time with Rishi, his girlfriend Akshata and Anuya (who I met for the first time) at the Mocha in Bandra. Rishi and Aksh I had already met last week for a short while. I'm going to be all nice here and say that it was fun hanging out with you guys. I am not a mean person damnit.

And you know that you're living in a bizarro world when I was the one poking fun at Rishi for playing too many video games. And let's not forget the two fingered salute. And the pole dancing. And 'mouse' Rishi. And... well, they have just way too much stuff on him. For a conspiracy theorist Rishi, you're surprisingly careless. :o

Anuya decided to go a step ahead and label me. Thanks. But you know you're overreaching when you try to teach me Hindi curse words and try convincing me to watch Hindi movies. Good luck with that by the way.

Really though, it was nice meeting ya'll. Haha, sorry, had to. You do know I did that on purpose. Anyway, I'll be back to annoy you in December probably.

I guess that sums up that nonevent. Oh, and if you lot want the pictures I took earlier, hit me up on MSN: omnipotent at mail dot utexas dot edu. I'll be posting lower res pictures on here too later*.

Yesterday I went go-karting with my cousin. 100 laps of racing can be tiring but great fun too, especially when you pull a last corner overtaking move to win the last race of the day. The two of us were easily the fastest on track throughout the day. On a side note, and without calling me a chauvanist, could someone explain to me why girls are so slow on track?

The only way to browse!

I am of course referring to the web browser on the nokia 9500. My cousin's, to be precise. Gotta love gprs. Anyway, reports of my death due to extreme heatstroke have been exaggerated, but not by much. They need someone to invent air conditioners here....

I'll post more about my encounter with a certain casualty to the mainstream and his girlfriend later.

And he crosses the line to take the checkered flag

Wow. Go-karting is just way too much fun. The place here isn't the best I've raced at but it's good enough... and fun. Went to the track with three cousins, of which one was about as fast as I was so it was really a toss up. We did four races, complete with qualifying runs, and I won those 3-1. Though he did set the fastest lap of the day - a tenth faster than my best. All in all a good way to spend 4 hours. I know I'll be going there again before I leave Bombay.

Yeah I'm in Bombay at the moment. Flew in a couple of days ago, and the 4 am flight fucked my schedule good. Whatever though, business class travel is always good, whatever the time.

I did spend some time talking to Mr. Corporate Mass Media Whore on the phone. I am of course referring to h3lio-Rishi. If all goes well we're going to meet at 'Mocha' tomorrow, which sounds a lot like Starbucks. Damn latte-drinking liberals....

Tennis at Club Millenium and squash followed by swimming at Otters' Club were good too.

Time to go annoy my cousins. More later....
