LOL!
Only in Texas can you define marriage, and then prohibit it.
In case you're wondering what I'm on about, today was election day here, and Texas was voting on a gay marriage ban. Obviously, this being Texas, it passed by a lopsided vote... though on the bright side, Travis County - where Austin is located - voted against it by some 65%. Anyhow, if you read the actual text of the consitutional amendment that was being voted on....

Sec. 32. (a) Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman.Part (a) is pretty clear, but a plain text reading of part (b) means that the amendment does effectively what I said earlier - defines marriage, and then prohibits it. ALL of it, not just gay marriage. Where's all that strict constructionism now?
(b) This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.

Another reason why I hate Texas....people can't do anything right. Stupid state, at least I live in Austin....

Don't worry, mel, real Texans don't "hate" Austinites. We are just glad they are isolated there leaving the rest of the Great State of Texas to real Texans.

After that, I'm GLAD I live in Austin. I don't think I want to have anything to do with these so called 'real Texans'. Really a wonder the rest of the country (and world now) can't stand this state.... ;)
