Can they not do ANYTHING right?

Big news yesterday, shots fired by a federal air marshall on the walkway to an AA aircraft. It all seemed fine until I wake up this morning and read this....

Witnesses aboard an American Airlines jetliner say that Rigoberto Alpizar's wife pursued him, saying he was mentally ill, just before federal marshals shot and killed him. "She was chasing after him," said fellow passenger Alan Tirpak. "She was just saying her husband was sick, her husband was sick." Air marshals said Alpizar had announced he was carrying a bomb. No explosives were found.
Discretion anyone? I'm really trying to decide whether the paranoia in this country is funny or just plain scary....

  • The official story is that he "claimed to have a bomb in his luggage." On approaching the luggage, they shot him.

  • he kept walking and claimed to have a bomb and then reached towards his backpack. they shot him.
    apparently the air marshals do not have the option to shoot to injure or disable.. they are supposed to either kill or not fire at all.
    the wife was screaming at them that he was sick and that he was bipolar (or in other words.. manic depressive)
    nobody listened to her and he was killed..
    all he had in the backpack were books.

    i wanna know this guys ethnicity and what he looked like. can anyone post a pic?

  • the wierd part is that if al qaida manage to infiltrate any of these defensive parts of the US... theres gonna be plenty of shit flying around.

    apparently before sept 11th there were only 33 air marshals.. but now the bus admin has recruited thousands... safety in numbers anyone? a time magazine reporter apparently went through their training as well..
